Always Think About  Transformation
As a workforce we all should engage in continuous individual, and business improvement.  I strongly
believe that the vast majority of people  want to do the best job possible on a regular basis without
any degradation of working conditions (morale, dignity, respect, safety, benefits, or other radical
changes.)

In unity it is the responsibility of all of us to monitor and enforce contractual agreements, and
workplace rights.  As employees we must keep in mind that today's innovations are tomorrows
burden. Simply said, "we got to stay on top of the mail game, or the mail game will be on top of us."
Our peers should envy our work ethic, and our bosses will respect us for our knowledge about
business and organizational regulations.  Managers lead the agency, but those of us in the trenches
"run it" by making the service happen everyday!

Working together and using our collective technical, and administrative ability we will embrace
maximum use of 21st century technology to perform our jobs better than ever.  We are a high
contributor to faster delivery and customer loyalty.

Its time to get rid of any (lazy?) Laissez-Faire Leadership! A style that "suggests a leader who is
passive, delays decisions, gives little or no feedback to subordinates, and makes little effort to help
members with their problems; in short, someone who takes a hands-off approach." Time to convert
to an energetic transformational leadership style that "focuses efforts on communicating group goals
to the organization's members to put those goals above their own."

We need to engage in "organizing" to retain and get new members by:

Union Image building and work toward creating a stronger culture.
Using computer and presentation technology (laugh out loud).
Maximizing membership participation (our main audience).
Developing and maintain a website presence (constant contact).
Conducting organized meetings with agendas to tackle business issues.
Getting involved in our community (to get support from the public).
Producing professional stewards who are the eyes, ears, and voice of the union.

"Sometimes leaders holding elected positions are reluctant to mentor potential leaders for
fear that those individuals could challenge them in future elections. Or they will choose
individuals to mentor whose primary qualification is loyalty rather than ability. This is a
shortsighted philosophy that is more consistent with transactional than transformational
leadership because it puts the interest of the leader above the interest of the organization."
